Ceremonies and Signs of Grace
The Sacraments are Catholic rites that make God’s invisible love visibly present to us. We encounter Christ at each sacrament celebrated at different stages of our lives.
If you have already received a sacrament at St. Joseph of the Holy Family and need to request a certificate please complete our form HERE. Our parish also has the records from St. Thomas the Apostle Church, formerly located on 262 West 118th Street New York, NY, 10026. Please submit the same form and specify if you received the sacrament at St. Thomas. We ask that certificates are requested by the person who received the sacrament, a parent/guardian, or a requesting parish.
Baptism
In the Catholic Church you are baptized to be welcomed into the Christian faith. Baptisms for children generally take place during a Sunday Mass or following Saturday Morning Mass of 9 am. Contact us at the rectory to arrange a baptism.
Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a Catholic’s confession of sins for reconciliation with God and the Church. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered on Saturdays between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM. Speak to one of the Priests in the rectory if you would like to take the sacrament at another time.
Holy Communion
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is the receiving of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist. Parents/guardians should enroll their children in religious education for young students. Adults can register for RCIA.
Confirmation
Confirmation is the sacrament in which Catholics confirm their faith in Christ Jesus so as to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and live out their Christian witness. Parents/guardians should enroll their children in religious education for young students. Adults can register for RCIA.
Marriage
Would you like to get married at St. Joseph's? You may set up a meeting with one of our priests. The calendar can get quite busy, so please let us know your plans at least six months ahead of your preferred wedding date.
Anointing of the Sick
Please let one of our priests know or contact the office if anyone from the congregation is seriously ill or hospitalized.
